Compatibility and preparation

The Mic 3 family supports 32-bit float internal recording and adaptive gain control. Its receiver supports up to four Mic 3 transmitters, but four-channel output depends on the device and software. Transmitters, receivers and USB-C/Lightning phone adapters are not interchangeable with Mic, Mic 2 or Mic Mini.

Choose the connection for the recording device: a camera audio input, USB-C phone, Lightning phone or computer. Check the required adapter and filming app support. For interviews with several people, confirm transmitter count and channel handling separately; two microphones do not automatically create two separate files in every application.

Practical use

For a good result, position the microphone close to the voice, prevent clothing rub and record a test at the filming location. Listen before starting the interview: wind, echo and background noise do not disappear simply because the system is wireless. Check the camera or app audio level, every unit’s battery and the selected recording mode.

For editing, decide in advance whether you need individual voices or a combined mix. A short test confirms the signal path and helps avoid discovering after the shoot that the app recorded a different audio input.
